I've always been intrigued by the word "reflection". First, there is the literal levelthe ability to see one's image in a reflective surface like a mirror or a calm body of water. This image is flat, 2 dimensional. This is how most of us see each other. When we meet someone we don't know, the only way we are able to judge them is by their looks. I'm also interested in exploring the deeper levels of the word. Reflection as in thought, memories of the past, things one has done or said. One might also reflect on where they come from, who they are, and what has shaped them. My first Masterwork is about the limits of a mirror's reflection. People tend to take things as they see them, not bothering to get someone to "open up" and reveal the other beautiful things about them. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
